Heigh-Ho-nniversary

Because I'm not Bashful, I'm writing this post about The Rare Writer's seventh anniversary.

It's certainly been a year. This pandemic had me real Grumpy. Every time I got a little Sneezy, I was afraid I'd get the virus and have to see a Doc. But I stayed home and started writing lots, including hero and monster stuff for the first time in a long while!

In the Fall, I even started doing Writing Nights, taking my computer to our basement and cranking out some posts after everyone else had gotten Sleepy and gone to bed.

Despite everything, this actually ended up being one of my more productive years on the blog, which makes me pretty Happy.

Thanks as always for following and reading, and I hope the Snow White references don't come across as Dopey, it's the only "Seven" pun I could think of.

Cheers!

What It Feels Like

The Healthing.ca interview I wrote about in my last post is now published and live.

Turned out nicely!

Thanks to the author, website, and the JS Board for the opportunity!

Cheers.

Updates From Reality

With the pandemic, lockdowns, and recent posts about superheroes, monks, and mammoths, it seems almost alien that I would be writing about anything that's really happened to me recently. But, here we are!

A couple weeks ago, I received a request through the JS board for an interview from Healthing.ca, a Canadian medical website. After some email-tag caused by technical issues, the writer and I set a date and time of this past Wednesday afternoon.

Things went very well. I was asked about Joubert syndrome itself, what causes it, and its characteristics. Then we talked about when I was diagnosed, how it happened, how I felt, and finding the Joubert Foundation and community. After that, it was about me, growing up disabled, hobbies and pastimes, work, and my time on the board. Finally, I was asked about how I've been doing during COVID. I'll be sure to create a post with the article once it's published.

And lesser, random note, but one that seems bigger during these times, I managed to use up an entire gift card from Christmas. It's the little things...

Cheers!

It's The Little Things

Sure, I'm looking forward to the days when I can go back into work, attend a comic convention, and see my grandparents, but I've also realized this year that it's crazy how much you miss the little things in life.

When COVID ends, and we can resume our regular activities, there are a few, simple pleasures I want to indulge in again.

First off, I want a proper hair cut! Not just one from my mother, but one from Imperial Barber, my go-to shop. Preferably with breakfast from McDonalds beforehand or, better yet, from somewhere my Dad and I can sit down in!

Second, I want to browse through a bookstore.

I've been in my local Indigo, as well as my favourite comic shop and some other places when they've been open over the past year, but I've never lingered. So, when we get the "all clear", I plan on going somewhere to spend a decent amount of time hunkered down, lazily cruising through the shelves.

And finally, whenever international travel opens up again, I'd like to go across the border, into northern New York, and drop a small chunk of change at Price Choppers on nothing but good American junk food. Fritos Twists, Payday bars, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Arizona sweet tea: no decisions, I'll get 'em all!

I could order it or make my own, but it's just not the same!

Some day soon, hopefully!

Cheers
