Looking Ahead

It's getting very eventful around here!

Lots of stuff coming down the pipes for me in terms of work and advocacy. First off, I'm officially back to looking for some work. So far, I've met with a few different people, including those I did the placement for, who all seem very enthusiastic about helping me. One such person is a new caseworker for the agency I'm currently getting helped by, who I was introduced to in a meeting yesterday.

Right out of the gate, she had some excellent ideas, including looking into self-employment as a way to promote my writing and speaking, while looking into something part-time in the reception/admin fields as something to do on the side. All of this sounded great to me, and I'm looking forward to working with her towards this.

I've also been looking at doing some more writing, both for the blog and elsewhere. I've been fortunate enough to have recently got some advice and motivation from a couple of fathers of kids with Joubert who were gracious enough to offer their professional expertise.

And lastly (for now, anyway), I've got two advocacy opportunities lined up for this year! The first is another opportunity to speak to the Social Work students at Carleton University. The other is I've been asked to lead a teen/adult discussion group at the 2017 Joubert Syndrome conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The whole family is going and we're already registered, so it should be fun!

More on all of this as it develops.

Cheers!
