Planning to Plan for TCAF

The Toronto Comics Art Fest recently updated their website with many details about this year's event, including some featured guests and the fest's annual poster. Most important for me, the dates (last weekend of April), a COVID safety protocol (puts me at ease), and hotel information.

That last one has changed. It's no longer the hotel I stayed at pre-pandemic (that seems to have shut down, sadly). The fest's new hotel of choice is in a different location, but still within a short, seemingly manageable walk to TCAF's venue.

With that change in mind, and also because I haven't travelled anywhere outside of Ottawa independently in almost four years, I'm taking a reasonable amount of extra time to pre-plan for this trip.

In just a few days, I've bookmarked pertinent websites, saved an image of TCAF's 2023 poster for motivation, and meticulously examined both Google Maps AND Google Earth to have a look at the hotel's location and its surrounding neighbourhood, making notes of walking time, distance, directions, and nearby shops and eateries, of which there appears to be a satisfyingly broad selection.

Getting extremely pumped for this, and all digits remain crossed in anticipation for when the real planning can begin.

Cheers!

The Fifth Goal

As a really quick addendum to my New Year's post, I've come up with one additional goal for 2023 - Strive to be a little more social.

I consider myself introverted and proud, and enjoy being alone, but even by my standards it's starting to get a little crazy.

I'm still keeping extra-COVID safe and not planning on ever doing TOO much, but I would like to get back to at least some human interaction outside of work and family. Maybe an occasional coffee with someone, online chatting, or maybe even seeing if the book club I was involved in (which went online during the pandemic) is still operational.

Just a thought.

Cheers!

Goals for 2023

It's the start of 2023, and for the first time in a couple years, I think it's safe to make at least a couple goals/aspirations for the next twelve months.

First and foremost is to attend the Toronto Comic Art Fest (TCAF) at the end of April. I haven't been in four, very long years and I might just go the entire weekend if I feel like it. There's also a hybrid element to this year's convention, which should hopefully mean less people, which could mean less crowding, which would mean potentially better times for me. All extremities are remaining crossed for the next few months.

Next is to get active again/lose a little weight. I was doing fairly well for a while, but then COVID sort of threw me off the wagon and I've been pretty sedentary since. Need to get back on the treadmill again.

Third is a little mental health help. Nothing too, too serious. I'd just like a little professional reassurance about some fears surrounding reintegration into society at-large, and some worries about my future. I'd been thinking about this for a while, and finally asked my family doctor about it during a check up. She thought it was a good idea and gave me some numbers, so I'll make some kind of attempt ASAP.

And finally, I want to get something started with regards to writing a book. Even if it's just brainstorming ideas.

Other things are bound to come up, but those are what I felt like writing down and trying to commit to.

Cheers!
