A Hand Plus One

The Rare Writer is six years old this week!

Not my most productive year on the blog, but a job is a pretty good excuse for lack of writing.

As always, thanks for reading, following, and liking posts.

And now the fun part. Seeing as the blog is six, I'm getting it, and you readers by extension, the one thing I know six-year-old me would've wanted: a giant bucket of Ninja Turtles!

*Those are mine, still, at 34. They're unapologetically loved and not going anywhere.

Cheers!

Hi There

Hi there, blogverse! It seems like it's been forever since I've posted anything. So, I guess a few updates are in order.

The holidays were pretty nice. Great weather for my first trip to Nova Scotia in almost four years. Spent Christmas Eve with my Nanny Perkins (mom's mom) where, thanks to someone having redone them, I was able to get up her front stairs on my own for the first time ever! Christmas day was spent at my Grammy & Grampy MacLellan's house for a big holiday lunch with them and two of my uncles (dad's family). We flew home on the 27th and had our own, third Christmas!

January was mostly a mix of work, illness, and bad weather. Things managed to align one Friday though, and I took the opportunity to briefly get out and try a new cafe just a short ride from here, which was nice.

The last couple weeks have managed to bring me some good news in the form of some doctors appointments.

The last respiratory check-up I had about six months ago did not go so well, with my breathing test being very low and basically being told to get off my rear and lose some weight. Well, this one about a week ago was definitely an improvement! Breathing is up, and I guess the frequent treadmill use is working.

More good news came just the other day during an appointment to get my ears looked at, after getting a new set of tubes put in in September. Hearing is way up, there was not even a mention of surgery (first time that's happened in two years!) and I don't have to go back until well into 2021!

Attending the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD's) Rare Disease Day conference next month and planning a TCAF trip for May, and those will both be written about later.

Cheers!
